The Challenge -<\/strong> <\/span>Our customer was moving into a new facility and needed to find the best solution for storing their Bar Stock. They wanted to store their Bar Stock the most effective way possible to save space for their other equipment. Another concern was the amount of time for picking and the number of associates needed to handle this task. This long-time customer of AHS asked for a solution to this challenge.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our Advanced Handling Solution -<\/strong><\/span> When it comes to maximizing vertical space and reducing the pick time and associates required, the VLM stands out as a great choice. We proposed the VLM for their Bar Stock storage. Not only for the effective storage, but it reduced the number of pickers required to do the picking. We also came up with a creative way to pick and place products in and out of the trays. To safely handle the Bar Stock, we proposed an external delivery bay on the VLM and a Workstation Crane to pick the Bar Stock. This allowed the customer to sling the Bar Stock and pick directly out of the tray eliminating heavy lifting for associates. With the increased storage in a smaller footprint, increase in picking efficiency and ergonomic picking for associate safety, the customer was very happy with the proposed plan and decided to move forward with the project.<\/span><\/p>\n
